Dumb Dumb Dumb: My Mother's Book Reviews is a memoir centered around the more than 400 index cards in which Pehl's mother chronicled the books she'd read. Covering 15-plus years, she read so much she started to lose track, and so devised her own card catalog system and jotted pithy observations about each book.

Mary Jo Pehl is a writer and cast member on the twice Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning Mystery Science Theater 3000, and currently writes and performs humorous movie commentary on RiffTrax. She’s been published in magazines, websites, and numerous anthologies, and her commentaries have been heard on NPR's All Things Considered. As a comedian and storyteller, Mary Jo has appeared on stages and at comedy and theater festivals throughout the land.
