Chris Granias and David Pates demonstrate how the acoustics of piano improvisation and the ‘voice’ of modern poets dynamically resonate in fresh collaboration with a live audience.

Dr. Chris Granias, a native of Chicago, received his Doctorate in Theory and Composition from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s in Piano Performance from Northwestern University, and a Master’s in Composition from Drake University.

David Pates, B.A., English, University of Minnesota; B.S., Education and M.A., English, St. Cloud State University, is retired from the English Department at Normandale Community College, Bloomington, MN, where he taught composition, business writing, and advanced grammar. Photography is another major interest.
