The Music of Poetry: John Colburn, Juliet Patterson, and THE MEADOWS

Poets Juliet Patterson and John Colburn are teaming up with The Meadows for a night of compelling words and innovative music. Join us for a memorable evening!  

John Colburn is the author of Invisible Daughter (firthFORTH Books, 2013) and Psychedelic Norway (Coffee House Press, 2013) as well as three chapbooks of poetry. He lives in St. Paul, MN.

Juliet Patterson is the author of The Truant Lover, Threnody (forthcoming, Nightboat Books), and Dirge, a chapbook recently published by Albion Books. Her poems and essays have appeared widely. Her most recent project, a memoir in progress, entitled Sinkhole, has been supported through a Minnesota State Arts Board grant and a Minnesota Emerging Writers grant. She lives in Minneapolis near the west bank of the Mississippi.

Having shared stages and studios in years past, in April 2013 a landmark birthday party brought the band members together again and The Meadows was formed. Their histories drag through punk, alternative, improv and prog jazz, folk and country.The Meadows has become a seeding bed for writing and experimentation, both together and individually. Their recently released self-titled recording is available at: themeadows1.bandcamp.com.
